The History of Penrice Castle

“The great park around Penrice Castle, the deep woodlands that encircle it, and the strange marshlands at its foot are still intact and form a landscape composition that is hard to beat in the whole of South Wales. If you add glimpses of the prow of Oxwich Head and the rich brown background of Cefn Bryn, the whole area lying at the back of the dunes of Oxwich Bay takes on an Arcadian quality.”
Wynford Vaughan Thomas 1976
Home Farm

The Estate farms its 700 acre Home Farm in hand and has one tenanted farm.
The Home Farm has a herd of pedigree Welsh Black Cattle and flocks of Lleyn and Wensleydale sheep which are all farmed organically.

Penrice Castle and its surrounding Estate, with its range of historic buildings and landscapes, are ideal for filming and over the years have been popular with a number of productions. Oxwich Beach in particular has been used for a range of different adverts. In the recent years, Bay Studios in Swansea have filmed various productions including DaVinci Demons. Outside filming is possible at a daily rate by arrangement. Unfortunately interior filming in the main house is not allowed.
